Kaala is a gangster film which depicts the life of Nellai / Tirunelveli based Tamilians who live in Dharavi, Mumbai- the second-largest slum in the continent of Asia which is filled with multi-cultural, multi-lingual families.

After the success of ‘Kabali’ movie, Superstar Rajinikanth reportedly wanted director Pa Ranjith to work on the sequel ‘Kabali 2’. However, Pa Ranjith scripted a completely different story from Kabali, and the story impressed Rajinikanth. In this movie ‘#Kaala’, Rajinikanth is expected to be playing a lead gangster role similar to the movie Kabali.

The teaser of 'Kaala' which was unveiled recently, gave us a glimpse of the movie and what one could expect from Kaala. In the teaser where Rajinikanth is seen saying the punch dialogue, “Kye re, setting ah?” became an instant hit among the fans of all ages. ‘Kaala’ movie marks Superstar’s second collaboration with director Pa Ranjith.

Within a short span of time, director Pa Ranjith has made a name for himself has a great political critic through his films. Most of the movies directed by Pa Ranjith have a unique take on the class hierarchy. He was also commended for communicating about ‘coat and suite politics’ in previous ‘Kabali’ movie.

‘Kaala’ is said to revolve around a gangster from Tirunelveli major city in Tamil Nadu. From the teaser which unveiled earlier, one can clearly expect the movie to have a strong political angle, especially with actor Nana Patekar playing a lead antagonist politician role.

With ‘Kaala,’ Superstar has given a whole new definition to black colour, and the movie itself is expected to represent the story of the oppressed class in the society. On social media like Facebook and Twitter, Superstar's ‘Kaala’ is being touted as his answer to the blockbuster Hollywood film, ‘The Black Panther.’ Will ‘Kaala’ break records and live up to its hype? Only time will tell.

Apart from Superstar, one of the significant highlights of the movie ‘Kaala’ is its supporting crew including Nana Patekar, Samuthirakani, Huma Qureshi, Eswari Rao, and Anjali Patil. Actress Eswari Rao is expected to play the lead female role to Rajinikanth. From the teasers, it is almost confirmed that she will be the Rajinikanth’s wife in the film. Initially, speculations were rife that actress Anjali Patil would be playing the Rajinikanth’s daughter role. However, the ‘Newton’ actress squashed those rumors. Seasoned Indian actor Nana Patekar has been pitted against Superstar.

‘Kaala’ is produced by actor Dhanush’s Wunderbar Films production house. The movie is slated to hit the screens on June 7 2018. According to movie analysts, ‘Kaala’ is expected to have a massive opening at the box-office.
